May '08 Update

It's JUNE! Can you believe it?!?!


The month of May was quite difficult for me. For those of you who don't know, my mother's father passed away on 13 May. Luckily she was able to spend his last days with him. You may ask, "Jessica, how are you dealing with all this being so far away from everyone?" My answer to you is God's love, faithfulness, peace, comfort, strength, and so much more. All I can do is rely on the Lord. I've been studying Lamentations 3:22-23 which states "Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness." May you be engulfed by HIS unfailing love!

The Past:

Just before being really down, my little (or not so little anymore) cousin came to visit. She came to see what this ministry called JV is. We did so much! Between touring and "living a week in the life of Jessica," Lauren was able to participate in Study Camp 2008. It was very neat to see her naturally hanging out with all the Belgian kids! My bonus was spending precious time with family.

The Semi-Present:

We are finishing off our year with 2 more clubs then right off to summer camp! Things have been rather busy this spring. I just got back from my last training of this school year. It was held in Munich, where we were able to take a bike tour of the city. It was very fun!


The Future:

I am so sure this summer will fly by. For this month I'd like to ask for you to commit to pray for us.

Pray for:

  • Good weather during camp 1 July to 8 July
  • Safe travels to, from, and during camp
  • Our US group that will be integrated with JV during summer camp
  • Leaders' preparations; good ideas
  • Volunteer leaders' exams (happening the entire month of June)
  • Another van that we can borrow for the week or funds to rent another van
  • Wisdom, courage, discernment, in speaking with kids
  • Intentional relationship building time with kids
  • Cohesion amongst the entire group
  • Roselie's knee to heal
  • The speaker, Nat Winston
  • Good health for all, but especially for leaders and staff

My cousin, Lauren took part in a Bible study with Perrine and Rebecca. That Thursday before Study Camp all 5 of us prayed for the kids at camp, specifically Laurence!!!
